Watson Togiailua was only with the Hawaii Gridiron League for a short period of time but has already proven to football fans in Europe that he’s the real deal. In his debut with the Eidvoll 1814s in Denmark Togiailua showed he can be one of the most prolific offensive players they have seen after producing 5 touchdowns and a 42-14 victory. “It was Watson’s debut so we were all very anxious to hear how he played”, said HGL President Darrick Branch. “When we first saw witness display his ability at one of our League Tryouts we all knew that whatever team landed him would be lucky to have him lead their offense. He’s not only talented but his mind heart and focus are in the right place which makes him the ideal player that any coach would love to have on his team. That being said I am not surprised at the success he has already had but I would be surprised if he doesn’t improve and do astounding things because I know he expects that of himself”, added Branch.
Togiailua passed for 219 yards and 3 TDs’s and rushed for 89 yards and 2TD’s in the 1814’s impressive victory over the Nidaros Domers. When talking to Watson this morning about the overall experience so far in Denmark he says ” the experience is high class. The people here are great and have done everything in their power to keep us comfortable as imports. Everything is as exected and on time and everyone here works hard and are eager to learn.”
The HGL will be staying in touch with Watson and his 2013 Season with the Eidvoll 1814s and you can too by following him on Facebook under Watson Togiailua. We send our wishes of continued success to Watson as he continues to represent his family, friends and the HGL in amazing ways. Aloha!!!
