Big week in the HGL as the Stingrays battle the Paniolos in Game #1 and in the Hawaii Gridiron League Game of the Week it’s the defending champions the Honolulu Volcanoes taking on Team Phyxius at 7:00pm.
Aloha Gridiron Family! Out of respect for Mother’s Day and our players family obligations there will be no games on Sunday meaning there is only one HGL game this week to get your weekly football fix. This week the HGL presents an Exclusive Gridiron Showcase Game Saturday May 11th 8:00pm @ Waipahu Stadium. The HGL Game of the week features the Tribal Warriors taking on Team Phyxius in a game you don’t want to miss.

Eidsvoll 1814s wins third game of the series againts Bergen Storm.
Eidsvoll hit the road for the third consecutive weekend to take on the Bergen Storm. A small, but spirited crowd was treated to beautiful weather and very exciting football game. Eidsvoll got an unexpected boost of support from Eidvoll Idrættsforening Håndball, who were in town competing in a tournament and decided to root on their hometown team.
Quarterbacks Watson Togiailua of Eidsvoll and Nate Poppil of Bergen put on an aerial display from the very beginning, as the team traded 1st quarter touchdown passes back and forth, with Bergen holding a 13-7 lead at the end of the first period. While the Storm were able to force 3 1st half turnovers, Eidsvoll was able to jump out to a 22-13 lead in the 2nd quarter. On the last play of the first half, a Storm hail Mary pass was caught in the endzone, and the lead at halftime was 22-19 for Eidsvoll.
In the 3rd quarter, the fireworks continued as Togialiua fired his 4th and 5th TD passes of the game and Poppil countered with his 4th to make the score 34-26 heading into the 4th quarter. At that point, both defenses began to take control as only 3 points were scored in the final period. Eidsvoll’s offense began to churn out yards on the ground, Geir Kristian Hoel ripped off several long runs. However, Bergen’s defense held inside their own 5-yard line. Tor Erik Borgeteien Stensjøen was sent out to attempt his first career FG, and the youngster punched through a crucial 35-yard FG to give Eidsvoll a 2-score lead and the 37-26 score would hold.
Despite giving up many passing yards and TD’s, the Eidsvoll pass rush recorded numerous sacks, as Thomas Johansen, Riley Bowen, Joacim Eliassen, and Gard Pavels Høivang all got to the quarterback during the game.With the win, Eidsvoll pushed its record to 3-0, with all three victories coming on the road. Both teams will enjoy a bye weekend, and then have a rematch of this game on Saturday May 11, at Bøn stadium in Eidsvoll. All fans of American Football are invited to watch two exciting teams do battle once again.
It’s week #3 in the HGL and the action is already heating up as teams are battling for who’s #1 in their league. In the HWGL game #1 features a battle of two undefeateds as the Wahine Koa take on the Maniax at 2:00pm. In Game #2 its the Vixens and the Wardawgs both looking to get their first win of the season at 3:00pm.
At 4:30 it’s the beginning of the men’s games starting with the defending champion Honolulu Volcanoes taking on the newcomers the East Side Kings. In Game #2 its the Pearl City Paniolos taking on another one of our new 2013 franchises Team Phyxius in the HGL Game of the Week at 7:00pm.
